Katherine M. Oswald is an associate in the firm’s Estate and Wealth Transfer Planning Group where she serves as advisor and counselor to individuals, business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, and families. Katherine assists her clients on business and personal matters, assuring that all of their interests are properly aligned, legally protected, and transferrable to future generations. Katherine’s comprehensive roles include estate planning and wealth transfer, gift and estate tax planning, income and estate tax preparation, business planning and structuring, decedent’s estate administration, trust administration, and disabled adult guardianship administration in Cook County. Because businesses have distinct estate planning obligations, Katherine studies corporate structures to identify any potential issues in the long-term outlook for a company and the individual’s estate plan.

Katherine has assisted individuals in the preservation and transfer of wealth through estate planning, trust administration, and estate administration since she was admitted to the Illinois Bar. Katherine has worked alongside foreign consulates and attorneys of other countries in her estate planning and estate administration practices to meet clients’ individual goals. Katherine is also admitted to practice law in the U.S. District court for the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to being admitted to the bar, Katherine worked as a law clerk researching and providing commentary on trust and estate issues while obtaining her Juris Doctor from Loyola University of Chicago, School of Law. Katherine earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with honors from the University of Missouri.

Katherine was recently elected as Chair of the Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyers Section Women in the Law Committee where she hosts monthly CLE presentations and the annual CBA YLS Women in the Law Seminar. In addition, Katherine is an active member of the Professional Women’s Club of Chicago and the Illinois State Bar Association. Katherine volunteers her time regularly to the Wills for Heroes program where she drafts pro bono estate plans for Chicago’s firefighters, police officers, and medical response teams.
